About Breed

Iranian high flying Tumbler

In Iran each city has their own breed and color standard and this is one reason that there are so many different breeds that still exist and help them from becoming extinct. when it comes to rapidity of flight and endurance high flying tumblers of the city of  Tehran are the best in Iran.

The flying characteristics of a Iranian high flier  is that of a soaring bird, with a butterfly/ladder climbing flying techniques to gain altitude which is a fascinating sight to watch.  They gain altitude quickly and have been reported to fly from 8 to 10 hours.

They have a wingspread of up to 31" and are very strong and they do not ride the wind.  The best birds tend to rise above the rest of the kit to show off their talents.  They hover before they start somersaults.

Their skeletal structure more resembles a hawk's that a pigeon's with a round head, short legs and a short beak.  They have eye colors in yellow, pearl, bold.  The cock bird is larger and more powerful looking than the hen, but both are good parents and they raise their own young.

The Iranian high flyer comes in various patterns and colors.  The shield marked ones are called posht dar, the almond ones are called suror, palengi is spotted on the face and back, kaleh brenji is grizzled on the head and neck, suski is a black and brown color, posht khaldar carries a spot on the back and dast pari white with colored flights and tail.
